Spirit River UV2 Mohair Yarn
Spirit River UV2 Mohair Yarn is a continuous, soft and hairy fly-tying yarn for building fly bodies. Its fibres create a lightly fuzzy surface suited to leech-style streamers, nymphs and other buggy body profiles. The UV2 treatment gives the material a UV-reactive or UV-reflective response; it does not indicate a glow-in-the-dark effect.
Construction and use
Tie in the yarn by its end and wind it around the hook shank, sweeping the fibres back before each turn. Depending on the required profile, it can also be divided, twisted or placed in a dubbing loop. Looser turns produce a more open, hairy body, while closer turns create a fuller profile. Secure the end with several thread wraps, then trim or arrange excess fibres to shape the finished fly.
- Form: continuous soft yarn with a hairy texture.
- Finish: UV2 treatment with a UV-reactive or UV-reflective appearance, not phosphorescence.
- Uses: leech-style streamer bodies, nymphs and buggy fly bodies.
- Techniques: wind it, divide it, twist it or use it in a dubbing loop.
