Stonfo Elite Disc Drag Bobbin
Stonfo Elite Disc Drag Bobbin is a weighted stainless-steel fly-tying bobbin with an adjustable disc-drag system. The spool is carried on a central stem and retained by the drag assembly, so payout resistance is set with the control knob rather than by squeezing or bending spring arms. This is the standard Elite model, intended for general fly tying with conventional tying threads.
The thread tube terminates in a hardened-steel bush designed to resist wear and impact. Its smooth contact surface limits friction and reduces the risk of thread fraying during winding. The weighted construction gives the tool a settled feel in the hand, while a carefully selected drag setting helps produce successive wraps under even tension and reduces uncontrolled spool overrun when the bobbin is released.
Before fitting a spool, check that its width and centre bore suit the stem and pressure components. Unscrew the control knob and pressure piece, mount the spool, then reassemble the mechanism without forcing it. Begin with light drag and increase it gradually while pulling thread through the tube. Reset the resistance whenever the spool or thread changes, and hold the bobbin by its body during tying to avoid turning the adjustment knob unintentionally.
