Sybai Fine Alpaka Dubbing

Sybai Fine Alpaka Dubbing is a superfine, long-stranded alpaca dubbing that is easy to work with. Its long fibres make it useful for bodies and wings, and also provide an alternative to hare’s ear or bucktail when a longer, shaped profile is required. Many of the strands are hollow, giving this material a different working character from short, compact body dubbings.

Construction and use

For a body, spread a small amount thinly on the thread and twist it into an even noodle. For wings or other extended sections, use a dubbing loop to hold and control the long strands more securely. A little CDC floatant can be mixed with the dubbing to make well-floating flies, taking advantage of the hollow fibres. Form the profile first and trim excess length only after the material is secured.
