Sybai Flat Body Glass
Sybai Flat Body Glass is a flat, elastic strip for building fly bodies and ribbing. It can be pulled over a prepared underbody as a continuous body, or wound with spaces to create distinct ribs. The flat profile makes it easy to place touching turns and to control segment width by varying the tension during the wrap.
Construction and use
Tie the strip in at the rear of the hook shank, form a tapered underbody and stretch the material forward. Use close, touching turns to build a continuous body; leave deliberate spaces when the strip is being used as ribbing. Secure it at the head, trim the remaining end and cover the tie-in with thread. Moderate tension helps maintain an even width, whereas excessive stretching can narrow the strip and alter the rhythm of the segmentation.
- Form: flat, elastic strip for bodies and ribbing.
- Technique: touching turns produce a continuous body.
- Ribbing: spaced turns divide the underbody into segments.
- Adjustment: tension controls turn width and the space between ribs.
