Sybai Pearl Strips

Sybai Pearl Strips are thin, durable, non-elastic strips with a pearl or opalescent reflection. They are used for ribbing, backs, bodies and wing cases on nymphs, shrimp and scud patterns, as well as freshwater and saltwater flies.

Construction and use

Select a strip width that suits the hook and the intended body profile. Cut the required length, tie it in at the rear and pull it with moderate, controlled tension; it will not narrow under tension like an elastic strip. For a complete body, place adjacent turns; for ribbing, leave even spaces between turns. Secure the front end with firm thread wraps and finish the fly at the head.
