Sybai Soft Foam Bodies

Sybai Soft Foam Bodies are ready-made two-colour bodies made from soft, non-absorbent foam in short cylindrical components. They provide a quick way to build a fly body, particularly in bee-style patterns, while the appropriate size can also be fitted to larger constructions.

Construction and use

Select the diameter to suit the hook and intended profile: this family includes 6 mm, 7 mm and 10 mm versions. Trim the ready body to the required length with sharp scissors or a knife, and shape the ends if the pattern requires it. Tie it to the hook shank with controlled, broad thread wraps so the soft foam is not cut. The body can remain the main abdomen or serve as a starting component for further shaping; flotation of the complete fly also depends on the hook, eyes and other materials.
