Sybai Soft Foam Cylinders

Sybai Soft Foam Cylinders are soft, non-absorbent foam cylinders intended as stock for fly bodies and larger components. Smaller diameters can be used for bodies and Booby eyes, while larger stock can be shaped into a head.

Construction and use

Choose the diameter to match the hook and required silhouette: the family includes 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm versions. Cut the cylinder to length with sharp scissors or a knife. When making a head, taper and round the foam gradually by cutting or sanding; for Booby eyes, keep the component in the intended orientation relative to the hook shank. Secure the piece with controlled, broad thread wraps so the foam is not cut. A thread base or compatible adhesive may stabilise the component when needed.
