Textreme Long Hair
Textreme Long Hair is a continuous winding material with long, free-moving fibres arranged along a fine core. It builds a full, soft-edged body that can move in the water in a manner reminiscent of marabou. Use it for streamers and other patterns that need substantial volume without a rigid outline.
Construction and use
Expose a short section of the core before the first wrap and tie it to the hook shank. Wind the material progressively, sweeping the long fibres back before each turn. This keeps the fibres aligned and allows them to move once the fly is in the water. Adjust the spacing of the turns to the required volume, then secure the core and shape the end with scissors. The material can also form soft body sections or a broad synthetic collar.
- Form: continuous long-fibre material intended for winding.
- Core: fine core holding the fibres in the strip.
- Action: fibres create soft, mobile volume.
- Uses: streamers, bodies and synthetic collars.
- Technique: sweep the fibres back before every wrap.
