Textreme Mohair (1000 Den.) is a 100% natural mohair yarn with high hygroscopicity, prepared for building bulky fly bodies. It is particularly soft and swollen when assembled, making it suitable for large nymphs and salmon streamers. Its role is not to produce a thin, flat covering, but to build a full-bodied profile with visible volume. Use it as the main body material or for selected larger sections of a pattern. Control the tension while wrapping: excessive pressure can flatten the swollen yarn, while loose turns will not hold a clean profile. Capture the final turn with several thread wraps before trimming the waste end.
Construction and use
The yarn is rated 1000 Den. and is intended for larger patterns where a soft, expanded body is required. Its high hygroscopicity is a defined material characteristic, so the yarn may take up moisture during use. Prepare the required length before wrapping and build the body progressively rather than trying to force the full profile into one tight section.
