Uni French Wire LE (0.27 mm)
Uni French Wire LE (0.27 mm) is a metallic wire tinsel intended primarily for durable wraps. It defines body segmentation and adds reinforcement to the fly, making it useful on larger patterns where the rib must remain clear and functional. The material can also be used as a standalone body, for example on Brassie-style flies, or twisted with dubbing to make a simple brush. During tying it can be kept close to the shank or the underlying body material, helping the turns settle into a regular sequence. Its varnished surface is intended to resist tarnishing and maintain the metallic appearance. At the eye, avoid a sharp bend while the material is under tension; secure the final turns first, then cut the end cleanly without disturbing the wraps already laid.
Construction and use
This is the wire version of UNI-French rather than an oval tinsel, so it is suited to use as a firm rib, a complete body element or part of a twisted dubbing construction. The heavier LE size remains visible on larger flies.
