Uni French Wire SM (0.15 mm)
Uni French Wire SM (0.15 mm) is a metallic wire tinsel for making controlled, durable wraps on flies. The SM version measures 0.15 mm, giving the tier a fine material for defined segmentation without making the pattern unnecessarily bulky. The tinsel is varnished, which helps it resist tarnishing. It can serve as a visible design element or as reinforcement built into the fly.
Construction and use
Use Uni French Wire for ribbing nymphs, wet flies and streamers, or wind it as the body material on patterns such as the Brassie. It can also be twisted with dubbing to create a brush-style body. Keep the material under steady tension and place adjacent turns closely together for an even result. Finish by securing the end with thread and cut the remaining wire with a suitable cutter rather than pulling it away from a completed fly.
- Material type: metallic wire tinsel for fly tying
