Uni Stretch Elastic Body Material

Uni Stretch is a stretch nylon material for smooth, flat and even fly bodies. It lies close to the hook shank, making it easy to cover the underbody without unwanted gaps between adjacent turns. Use it on nymphs, wet flies and other patterns that call for a compact, uniform abdomen. It can also serve as an underbody for additional body materials. White takes coloured markers well, allowing the tier to adjust the shade for a particular pattern. Each spool contains 30yds of material.

Construction and use

The stretch helps maintain tension while wrapping and makes it easier to follow the shape of the body. Keep the material flat and place the turns edge to edge rather than twisting it into a cord; this preserves the smooth surface. At the tie-off, avoid pulling excessively and secure the material firmly with thread. For colour adjustment, build the shade in layers or customise the white base with a marker before or after wrapping.
