Veevus Power Thread 140
Veevus Power Thread 140 is a very strong, completely flat fly-tying thread designed primarily for larger flies. Its flat profile allows the wraps to spread evenly across the hook shank, helping the tier build a stable foundation and secure larger components without unwanted thread twist. Veevus describes this thread as stronger than previous threads and states that the thicker size could replace GSP in selected applications. The designation 140 is the product size, not a standalone specification for diameter or breaking strength. It is suited to large streamers and other patterns where reliable material control and a durable finished head are important.
Construction and use
Take advantage of the flat lay by keeping the bobbin at a consistent angle and controlling tension so adjacent wraps remain orderly. With bulky materials, begin with several anchoring turns and then increase pressure progressively; this gives the material a secure seat without forcing an abrupt buildup.
- Type: very strong, completely flat fly-tying thread
- Size: 140
- Suitable for: larger flies and bulky materials
- Handling benefit: broad, even wraps on the hook shank
