Wapsi Chew Balls 6.0 mm
Wapsi Chew Balls 6.0 mm are ready-made soft balls with a nominal 6.0 mm diameter. They are intended for egg patterns and for larger, compact elements in segmented nymph bodies. The round form is ready to tie directly onto the hook shank, so no cutting or shaping is required. This size builds a substantially fuller fly profile and is suited to patterns where a larger body section is needed.
Construction and use
Select the ball according to the hook size and the planned body width. Set it on a thread underbody and secure it with broad, moderately firm wraps, locking the front and rear of the element in place. A single ball can serve as the central feature of an egg pattern. For a segmented body, arrange several balls along the shank and separate them with thread wraps or a rib. Test the layout before finishing so the fly retains enough clearance at the eye and the body remains correctly proportioned.
