Wapsi Deer Body Hair
Wapsi Deer Body Hair is a hand-selected patch of soft, versatile deer body hair. The hair flares under thread pressure and can be used for muddler heads and other components shaped by spinning, stacking and clipping.
Construction and use
Remove underfur and loose short fibres from the selected section. Level a bundle in a hair stacker, secure it on the hook shank and spread it with controlled thread wraps. Build larger forms in successive layers, then trim the tied hair gradually to control the width and the transition into the rest of the fly.
- Material: soft, flaring deer body hair.
- Form: selected hair patch for cutting individual bundles.
- Working method: clean, stack, spin and clip the secured layers.
- Uses: muddler heads, bodies and other shaped fly components requiring controlled volume.
