Wapsi Dumbbell Eyes Painted
Wapsi Dumbbell Eyes Painted are painted lead dumbbell eyes for crosswise tying on the hook shank. They add concentrated ballast while providing a defined visual element at the head, making them useful for streamers and other patterns that require added weight.
Construction and use
Position the eyes perpendicular to the shank and secure them with firm thread wraps in a figure-eight pattern around the central connector. Lock the thread before continuing with the rest of the dressing. The lead weight affects sink rate and often helps the fly ride hook-point up, but the result depends on eye weight, hook choice and the complete construction. Select a size that keeps the pattern in proportion, and check that the eyes do not interfere with the hook eye or the head materials.
