Wapsi Foam Bug Bodies
Wapsi Foam Bug Bodies are ready-made, pre-shaped foam insect bodies for flies imitating beetles, ants or spiders. The formed profile requires fitting to the hook followed by secure attachment at the intended tying points.
Construction and use
Select a version to match the hook size and insect profile; the family includes, among others, Ant and Spider shapes matched to hook sizes #4, #6, #8 or #10. Position the body over the hook shank, check its alignment and secure it with controlled, broad thread wraps at the intended tying points. Moderate tension helps prevent the thread from cutting into the foam, while a thread base can even out the mounting area. Choose legs, wings, eyes and other additions for the specific pattern, bearing in mind that the weight of the complete fly affects how it behaves on the water.
