Wapsi Goose Shoulders
Wapsi Goose Shoulders are loose shoulder feathers from goose. They are large and soft, making them suitable for broad, decorative wing sections without using a whole skin. The shoulder part has a well-established role in salmon-fly tying, especially when the pattern calls for a visible material with a clean outline and a smooth surface.
Construction and use
The soft fibres make these feathers useful for married wings, where strips from different feathers are matched to form a composed wing. A single shoulder feather can also provide a larger, uniform wing section with a decorative profile. Match the feather width to the proportions of the pattern and select pieces with an even edge. Gentle cutting and securing help keep the fibres aligned and preserve the wing profile. Each package contains 6 feathers.
