Wapsi Guinea Fowl Skin
Wapsi Guinea Fowl Skin is a dyed guinea fowl skin with feathers in several sizes for selective use at the vise. Smaller feathers are suited to soft hackles on wet flies and delicate collars on nymphs. Larger wing feathers form wet-fly wings, while suitable sections also serve in streamers and salmon flies. The characteristic spotted pattern gives collars, wings and other fly components a clearly defined appearance.
Construction and use
The skin keeps feathers with different lengths, widths and fibre structures, allowing a close match to the hook and pattern size. Smaller, softer feathers create compact hackles, while broader wing feathers form a distinct wing section. To remove one feather, part the surrounding feathers, hold the selected feather close to its base and pull gently. Store the skin dry and protect it from moisture and pressure.
