Wapsi Marabou (Blood Quill)
Wapsi Marabou (Blood Quill) contains soft marabou feathers with the stem section retained for secure tying. The fine fibres move freely in water, making the material useful for streamer tails, wings and collars, as well as for many nymphs and salmon flies. One feather can provide a compact bunch or a broader mobile element, depending on the amount of fibre selected.
Construction and use
Soft marabou quickly creates volume and gives a fly lively movement. Match the amount of fibre to the size of the pattern to keep the proportions and head profile under control. The tips can be aligned before tying in, while the retained stem section makes the material easy to handle during installation. The feathers are approximately 7–10 cm long, and each package contains approximately 7 g of material.
