Wapsi Palmer Chenille Medium

Wapsi Palmer Chenille Medium is a medium-sized long-fibre chenille for bodies, collars and palmered synthetic hackle. Its one-sided pearlescent finish gives an iridescent surface when wound and adds a reflective element to streamers and wet flies.

Construction and use

Secure the starting point by the core and carry the chenille to the intended body endpoint. Wind it with even tension, placing successive turns beside one another. Sweep the long fibres back before each turn to keep them aligned and prevent them from being trapped beneath the material. Once tied, comb the surface, check the fibre distribution and trim the profile to suit the fly. It can form a continuous body, or the turns can be spaced more widely when a more open synthetic hackle effect is wanted.
