Wapsi SLF Hanks
Wapsi SLF Hanks is a synthetic fly-tying fibre from the Synthetic Living Fiber family, supplied in convenient hanks. This format makes it easy to take repeatable portions and quickly build streamer wings, backs, sides and tails. The fibres may be used on their own or combined with other materials to create a more developed baitfish profile.
Construction and use
Separate the hank into smaller portions according to the size of the fly. Align the tips, secure the fibres on the hook shank, and control both thread tension and the bulk of each successive layer. Leave the wing long when needed, then taper or trim it with scissors after tying. Small portions are useful for side accents and tails.
- Wings and backs: builds a synthetic streamer profile with layers that suggest a small baitfish shape.
- Hank format: makes it easy to take consistent amounts and repeat the same fly proportions.
- Blending: combines with other materials for layered wings and contrasting lateral accents.
- Finishing: after firm thread wraps, taper, shorten or trim the fibres to the desired profile.
