Wapsi Whole Pine Squirrel Skin

Wapsi Whole Pine Squirrel Skin is a complete pine-squirrel skin with fine, soft hair. Its thin hide and mobile hair allow the tier to cut zonker strips, matuka-style components, tails and fur-covered bodies for small streamers and nymphs.

Construction and use

Lay the skin hair-side down and cut from the hide side with a shallow stroke to preserve the hair. Match the hair direction to the pattern: when tying a tail, point it toward the rear; when wrapping a strip, use even turns around the hook shank. Smaller pieces cut from the remaining skin can be used for legs, backs and crawfish-style details.
