Whiting Coq de Leon Hen Saddle
Whiting Coq de Leon Hen Saddle is a hen saddle from the Coq de Leon line for wet flies, nymphs and streamers. Its feathers have distinctive barred or mottled markings and soft, flexible barbs. They move readily in the water and are well suited to natural-looking hackles, legs and wing elements. Longer feathers can also be used in streamers, including Matuka-style patterns, where the markings add definition to the wing.
Construction and use
The delicate barbs form a supple hackle for insect legs and other underwater details. Select each feather by the barb length and width required for the pattern. Natural barring and mottling can vary from feather to feather, giving individual flies a varied appearance. Controlled wrapping keeps the soft barbs mobile and preserves their movement in the water.
